This email is a reminder of the GLA meeting next Wednesday July 10th 2013 evening at Grotonwood (167 Prescott St. Groton, MA 01450) at 7:00 PM.
In my July 3rd email I indicated that we plan to do a third Sonar herbicide treatment next week. That treatment is now scheduled for Tuesday July 9th. I will need volunteers to post treatment signs on a few docks around the lake. I will place the signs at the boat launch and the entrance to Sargisson Beach. If someone could place signs at Baby Beach that would be great. We will only have the standard 8.5 inch X 11 inch signs and because of budget constraints we have not had larger signs printed. Until further notice please do not use lake water for irrigation unless you plan to kill your grass and plants!
As I had noted on July 3rd we have removed a board in the dam and a second board is tilted up. As of Friday noon the lake water level was down about 3 inches below normal Summer pool level. We hope to get the water level of the lake down at least six inches below the normal “zero inch” summer pool level prior to the third Sonar treatment. We plan to replace both boards in the dam prior to the third Sonar treatment.
I am quite disappointed that so few people have renewed their GLA membership using their charge cards on the PayPal link that I have sent out several times. Note that you do not have to be a PayPal member to use the PayPal link to renew your GLA membership. We plan to do a mass mailing on the weekend of July 13th-14th. Please volunteer to help us fold the membership letters and stuff and stamp envelopes. We will need to raise funds for our efforts to among other things establish a boat & trailer inspection station at the boat launch and pay inspectors. We hope to be able to build a shed at the boat launch to store brochures, chairs etc.
