An Important Message to our Groton Lake Neighbors

First of all, Happy holidays. It looks like Spring is finally here, despite the temperatures. The Lakes are starting to fill up. The Boards have been in the Lost Lake Dam since last weekend. There are boaters on Lost Lake and Knops Pond every day. While we are all fortunate to live on or near the Lakes, do you realize that all of us are paying a disproportionate share of real estate taxes to the Town of Groton?

Not only are our houses assessed more than comparable homes in town, but because we live on or near waterfront our taxes for property are multiplied by as much as 75%. A typical home in Groton has seen an increase of 27% in the past ten years, while those on the lake and ponds have seen an increase of approximately 50%. Additionally, THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE EXPECTED THIS YEAR!

Come to our next Groton Lakes Association general meeting on Wednesday night, April 12 at the Lost Lake Fire Station, to learn more about how you can help to avert this significant increase in your taxes!

The meeting starts at 7:00 PM and will be finished by 9:00 PM. We will also discuss changes in our Bylaws, changes in the fiscal year, and our upcoming fun events including a Mountain Lakes / GLA community picnic, the July 4 Boat Parade, and the second annual Poker Run.

On behalf of the GLA, Enjoy the Lakes!
